What is a lab-grown diamond?

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond — chemically, physically, and optically identical to one formed underground. The only difference is where it grew: in a controlled laboratory environment rather than over millions of years beneath the earth's surface. It is not a simulant, not a substitute. It is a diamond.

How are they made?

EOBO uses diamonds grown through the CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, in which a diamond seed crystal is placed in a chamber filled with carbon-rich gas. Under precise heat and pressure, carbon atoms layer onto the seed, growing a rough diamond atom by atom — the same way nature does it, just faster and in a controlled setting.

Are they real diamonds?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds share the same chemical composition (pure carbon), crystal structure, hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), and optical properties as mined diamonds. They are graded and certified by the same gemological laboratories — including IGI — using the same 4C standards: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight.

Lab-grown vs. mined — what's the difference?

The differences are in origin, price, and environmental footprint — not in the diamond itself. Lab-grown diamonds of equivalent quality typically cost 60–80% less than mined stones. They are traceable from growth to setting, with no association with conflict mining. And their production requires significantly less land disruption and water use than traditional mining.
